‘Aboriginals Want U.N. To Bully Canada’

The oddest part of this article is that the ‘social justice’ ‘journalist’ who wrote this piece actually thinks that the U.N. has the power to ‘instruct’ Canada to do anything:

“The United Nations has ‘instructed’ Canada to suspend construction of the Site C dam on B.C.’s Peace River until the project obtains the “free, prior and informed consent” of ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} peoples.

{Well, since they’re ‘indigenous’ to Siberia and Mongolia, then Canada can ignore this…} 

“Canada has until April 8 to report back to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination outlining steps it has taken to halt construction of the hydro project, which would flood 128 kilometres of the Peace River and its tributaries in the heart of {surrendered} Treaty 8 {former} ‘traditional territory’.

“The unusual request from one of the world’s top {fake} ‘human rights’ bodies was made by committee chair Noureddine Amir in a December 14 letter to Canada’s UN Ambassador Rosemary McCarney…

{Noureddine Amir is from that famous home of human rights, Algeria, which is 97% Muslim…}

“The Committee is concerned about the alleged lack of measures taken to ensure the right to consultation and free, prior and informed consent with regard to the Site C dam, considering its impact on ‘indigenous’ {aboriginal} peoples’ control and use of their lands and natural resources”,
wrote Amir, an Algerian law professor and former diplomat…

{It is no longer “their lands and natural resources”, which were surrendered in Treaty 8. See below…}

“Canada missed an August 2018 ‘deadline’ to report back to the committee on the Site C project, which was approved by the federal government in 2014 and green-lighted by B.C.’s new N‘D’P government in December 2017…

“Roland Willson, chief of West Moberly ‘First Nations’ {a ‘nation’ of 331 people}, one of the ‘nations’ {extended families} challenging the legality of the Site C dam, has called the project “cultural genocide”.

Here’s the Land Surrender clause from Treaty 8 — which covers the area discussed in the article above:

“AND WHEREAS, the said Commissioners have proceeded to negotiate a treaty with the Cree, Beaver, Chipewyan and other Indians, inhabiting the district hereinafter defined and described, and the same has been agreed upon and concluded by the respective bands at the dates mentioned hereunder, the said Indians DO HEREBY CEDE, RELEASE, SURRENDER AND YIELD UP TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DOMINION OF CANADA, for Her Majesty the Queen and Her successors FOR EVER, ALL THEIR RIGHTS, TITLES AND PRIVILEGES WHATSOEVER, TO THE LANDS included within the following limits…
{There follows a lengthy description of the territory ceded, released, surrendered, etc.}

“AND ALSO the said Indian rights, titles and privileges whatsoever to all other lands wherever situated in the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, or in any other portion of the Dominion of Canada.

“TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same to Her Majesty the Queen and Her successors for ever.

“And Her Majesty the Queen HEREBY AGREES with the said Indians that they shall have right to pursue their usual vocations of hunting, trapping and fishing throughout the tract surrendered as heretofore described, subject to such regulations as may from time to time be made by the Government of the country, acting under the authority of Her Majesty, and saving and excepting such tracts as may be required or taken up from time to time for settlement, mining, lumbering, trading or other purposes.”

“{B.C.} Energy Minister Bill Bennett…said Canada’s constitution requires negotiations between government and aboriginal groups be “Nation to nation”, meaning not subject to public consultation.

{Of course, he didn’t quote the relevant section BECAUSE IT DOESN’T EXIST. How stupid do these people think we are? There is NO MENTION of ‘Nation-to-nation’ in the Constitution! Both Sections 25 and 35 refer to ‘aboriginal peoples’ — a sociological category — NOT ‘nations’…}
