“Shocking footage has emerged of a violent brawl between two large groups of Aboriginal men and women on a dusty street in Australia’s Outback. The footage, understood to have been filmed in 2015, shows dozens of people crowding a residential street for the organised brawl.
“Roaring onlookers encourage two men, one in a black UFC singlet and the other shirtless, to start trading blows with each other. The shirtless man is knocked unconscious and collapses on the ground in just a few seconds.
“Moments later, another brawl breaks out between two stocky men. As the pair trade violent and frenzied blows, the group of spectators can be heard screaming and shouting… Alarmingly, a mother holding a young baby can be seen standing just metres away from the melee.
“As the brawl descends into chaos, a number of women can be seen participating in the group brawl, pulling each other’s shirts and hair while punching each other. It’s unclear what sparked the brawl.
“In 2016, police officers in Queensland were heavily criticised for observing a wild brawl in the troubled ‘indigenous’ town of Aurukun. Assistant Police Commissioner Paul Taylor defended the officers’ actions at the time, saying they were demonstrating ‘cultural sensitivity’.
