‘Who’s The Boss?’

Yet another example of how foolish court rulings are undermining Canadian democracy and government. Now, different levels of government can’t transfer property between themselves without seeking aboriginal approval…

“The District of Hope {B.C.} will not take possession of Station House any time soon, as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure have failed to undertake ‘consultation’ {‘permission and payoffs’} with ‘First Nations’ {‘aboriginal communities’}.

“The failure to consult effectively stopped the transfer of the property, on which Station House sits, from the ministry to the district. Mayor Wilfried Vicktor said the district would insist on a resolution to the issue and reimbursement of the money they’ve spent on the project, as well as reserving the right to launch civil action if an agreement with the province cannot be reached.

“In 2015, an amenity contribution agreement was signed between the district and the BC Transportation and Financing Authority (BCTFA), requiring the BCTFA to transfer ownership of the property to the district if they met certain conditions.

“In late 2017, the ministry told the district they would not be able to undertake the transfer, the reason being a lack of ‘First Nations’ ‘consultation’…

“A representative of the Sto:lo ‘Nation’ could not be reached for comment Monday evening; however, the piece of property at 111 Old Hope Princeton Way (where Old Hope Princeton Way crosses Highway 1) is on {claimed} traditional ‘unceded’ Sto:lo and Nlaka’pamux land, according to native-land.ca…

“The Mayor was adamant that this not affect relations between ‘First Nations’ and the district.

This is not a District of Hope versus neighbouring ‘First Nations’ issue. There is a consultation process enshrined in legislation, which very clearly the Ministry of Transportation and Highways did not adhere to, so it’s very important that we maintain the respectful relations we have with our ‘First Nations’ brothers and sisters”,
he said…
{Do you refer to any other Canadians as  your “brothers and sisters”?}

{Instead of blaming the real culprit – Race Based Law – the Mayor instead prostrates himself before ‘first nations’…}

Who Owns British Columbia?’:
“We are the true owners of British Columbia. The Indians across the province own everything — the rivers, the trees, the bugs, the animals. You name it. Subsurface rights, the air, the rain, the whole shot. That’s what we mean when we say we have aboriginal title to the land.”

  1. “Consulting FN” — Fudge!! They are are no more important than anyone else who doesn’t get consulted. Enough of this favoritism!!

  2. My only conclusion is that they believe they are superior and want to be looked down on, avoided, despised!! Favoritism indeed!! Consulting with them when no one else is consulted who pays their way!! Disgusting!!!!
