This isn’t about Aboriginal babies. The same light sentencing would have applied had he killed a ‘White’ baby because he is an Aboriginal, and is therefore entitled to preferential sentencing in Canada’s racist courts…

“Tyriq Kootenay of Stoney Nakoda ‘First Nations’ {‘nations’ of 5,687 people} fatally crushed his six-month-old daughter’s skull against a wall. Before he killed her, he fractured his baby girl’s arms and ribs, dislocated her shoulder, and bit her on her back. He did this while his other 18-month-old toddler was home. He did this after beating and choking his girlfriend, Brenna Hunter (the mother of the girls.) He also bloodied his 18-month-old daughter’s nose. He eventually stuffed Tanayah Noelle Hunter’s tiny body in a suitcase.
“He was angry because he had been scolded by the mother of his children for doing drugs in front of his baby and toddler. He beat Brenna Hunter and chased her and a male friend outside, then attacked her again. The RCMP went to the house and he didn’t let them in. One wonders why they didn’t check on the babies.
“Tanayah Noelle was tortured to death, while her toddler sister was home, by her own father. For this heinous crime the Crown is asking for only 10 years, less credit for time served. Therefore, only 7 years. The defense asked for 8 years, less credit for time served. Therefore only 5 years. This man will be out of prison at 28 or 30. His surviving daughter will be 6 or 8 years old.
“His lawyer argued,
“While the crime committed by Mr. Kootenay is undeniably tragic, it’s important to view his actions through the lens of his history, societal challenges . . . that acknowledges the ‘complexity’ of his situation.”
“In Canada, being ‘indigenous’ is a mitigating factor {See below}. In other words, the state holds ‘indigenous’ people to a lower standard than everyone else. Sentencing will happen later in September. There is nothing complex about it. According to the government of Canada and Canadian criminal courts, ‘Indigenous’ babies are worth less than ‘White’ babies.”
