“If you don’t listen to our people, you don’t listen to our chiefs, you don’t answer them, then there’s problems. And so, to Canada: we’re coming for you.”
“Cindy Woodhouse has became the new national chief of the Assembly of ‘First Nations’ {Indian Bands}. In a speech, she pleaded with Canadians to support the people she represents, and warned them to pay attention.
“Shortly after being sworn in, Woodhouse told reporters she was taking calls with political leaders, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She said she urged him to invest in infrastructure and
“all those things that, maybe, Canadians take for granted“ {?}.
…
“Woodhouse, who had been Manitoba regional chief for the A‘FN’, thanked former national chief RoseAnne Archibald during her acceptance speech, saying she “smashed glass ceilings for all of us“. Archibald was ousted earlier this year over the findings of an investigation into complaints from five staff members about her conduct {Which (coincidentally?) came after she said this:
“I remain undeterred in my conviction that the A‘FN’ is sorely in need of a forensic audit and independent investigation. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
“Woodhouse was an executive at that time.”
–‘Cindy Woodhouse is the new AFN national chief after David Pratt concedes’,
Alessia Passafiume, Canadian Press, Dec. 7, 2023

Background:
“The six candidates vying to be the next national chief of the organization that represents more than 600 ‘First Nations’ {Indian tribes} in Canada explained how they would advocate for treaty rights, ‘sovereignty’ and health issues during a forum a week before the election.
{None of them mentioned accountability to reserve residents or Band members.}
…
“The election follows the dramatic ouster of former national chief RoseAnne Archibald, who was voted out after colleagues accused her of creating a toxic work environment — an allegation she has denied.
“The candidates running to replace her are Reginald Bellerose, Craig Makinaw, Sheila North, David Pratt, Dean Sayers and Cindy Woodhouse.
…
“Woodhouse was the recent Assembly of ‘First Nations’ lead negotiator for a landmark $23-billion child-welfare settlement that was approved in Federal Court in October.
“North is the former grand chief of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, an advocate for missing and murdered ‘Indigenous’ {sic} women and girls, and a former journalist. She is running on a platform that includes protecting and enhancing the identities of ‘First Nations’ people and protecting the ‘inherent’ treaty rights of ‘First Nations’.
“I’m here because I am answering the call from our ‘nations’ {sic} across the country who are seeking unity, who are seeking clarity from their organization“,
said North.
{Only the Chiefs are ‘seeking unity’ – to further their milking of Canadian taxpayers…}
“North also recognized the backlash the organization has faced in recent years from community members who have expressed concerns about whom the assembly is representing.
“We need to make (the assembly) relevant again, not just for us, but for our people“,
she said.
“Nisichawayasihk Cree ‘Nation’ {a ‘nation’ of 5,574 people} Chief Angela Levasseur questioned the candidates on how they would make sure ‘LGBTQ’ and ‘two-spirit’ people are properly represented at meetings and within the organization.
“Pratt, who is the vice-chief for the Federation of ‘Sovereign’ {They’re not} ‘Indigenous’ {Canadian Aboriginals are ‘Indigenous’ to Siberia and Mongolia} ‘Nations’ {They’re not} in Saskatchewan, said if elected, he would make it a priority to regularly meet with the assembly’s ‘LGBTQ’ and ‘two-spirit council’, as well as the women’s and youth council, which are both connected directly to the grassroots.
…
“Sayers, a former longtime Batchewana ‘First Nation’ {a ‘nation’ of 3,269 people} chief, said the national chief should make sure community members are accepted and reflected in systems and policies.
…
“Bellerose, chair of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority and the Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group, is running again after losing out in the assembly’s last national chief election. He told leaders one of his priorities is to ensure northern and remote ‘First Nations’ receive adequate funding that reflects their unique needs.
…
“The candidates were also questioned on how they would address concerns around ‘First Nation’ membership requirements under the federal government’s Indian Act, which outlines who can and cannot be registered.
{If this segregationist farce is to be maintained, DNA should be required…}
“Makinaw said communities need to be proactive about protecting membership rights.
“We hear from some of our elders that once the last status Indian (has) passed away, (so do) our treaty rights“,
{We can only hope…}
said the former chief of Ermineskin Cree ‘Nation’ {a ‘nation’ of 4,992 people} in central Alberta.
“The election is set to occur on Dec. 6 during a special chiefs assembly in Ottawa.”
{Lots of funds for travel, but not housing on reserves…}

‘Big Trouble in the A ‘FN’’ (RoseAnne Archibald) {June 21, 2022}:
“I remain undeterred in my conviction that the A‘FN’ is sorely in need of a forensic audit and independent investigation. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
“The Assembly of ‘First Nations’ {Aboriginal communities} has suspended National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, a day after she issued a public statement criticizing the organization and just as she becomes the subject of an investigation involving multiple complaints against her. A statement released by the A‘FN’ on Friday evening said the executive committee and national board of directors voted to suspend Archibald effective immediately.”
